Scheme of Examination & Evaluation

PRIMARY

As per the guidelines from NES, the Academic year for classes I to V will be divided into two terms.

Term I: April to September

Term II: October to March

EVALUATION PATTERN:

  1. Four cyclic Test per term will be conducted for class I and II.
    Term-I: Cyclic Test 1.2.3.4 Term II: Cyclic Test5,6,7.8
    An evaluation (written exam) will be taken in a term for classes III-V.

  2. Assessment dates will be promulgated. Students should not be absent on the given dates.
  3. Computer and GK is not a graded subject for classes I & II.
  4. GK and Computer (Classes III to V) will be assessed twice a term. e) Value based questions will be incorporated in every subject so
    Value education will not be graded separately. 1) A few competencies will be graded on a continuous basisthroughout the term.
    For Classes I & II three main subjects, English, Hindi & Math Concept
    Cyclic Test will be conducted.
    Whereas III to V will have four main subject concept exams, le. English, Hindi, Math and EVS
  5. For Class-ll a few concepts of Assessment-l will be taken for Assessment-II. Term II will not carry concepts of Term 1.
    • For Classes IV & V a few concepts of Assessment-I will be assessed in Assessment-II in Term-1. Assessment-ll will not carry any concept of Term-1.
    • However Assessment- IV will carry few important concepts of the Term-1. The specific chapters will be intimated to you. Note books to be preserved. Students performance is graded using the `Five points scale'

NOTEBOOK SUBMISSION ( 5 marks)

Notebook submission as a part of internal assessment is aimed at enhancing seriousness of students towards preparing notes for the topics being taught in the classroom as well as assessments. This also addresses the critical aspect of regularity, punctuality, neatness and notebook upkeep.

Subject Enrichment Activities ( 5 marks)

These are subject specific application activities aimed at enrichment of the understanding and Skill Development. (Languages, Mathematics, Science and Social Science).

Co-scholastic Areas

These activities will be graded on a 3 - Points Grading Scale (A to C) and will have no descriptive indicators. No up scaling of grades will be done. The co-scholastic areas are as follows:

  1. Work Education – Awarded by the concerned Teacher
  2. Art Education – Awarded by the concerned Teacher
  3. Health & physical Education – By the Physical Education Teacher.

CBSE Class 9 Exam Pattern

80 Marks Annual Examination:

  • Schools will conduct Class-IX Examination for 80 marks in each subject covering 100% syllabus of the subject of Class-IX only.
  • Student has to secure 33% marks out of 80 marks in each subject. (Theory + Practicals) Marks and Grades both will be awarded for Individual subjects.

2.20 Marks Internal Assessment:

Internal assessment consists of

  1. Periodic Test: 5m
    • Three Periodic Written Tests are to be conducted in each subject in an Academic Year.
    • Average of the best two tests to be taken for 5 marks.
    • Three Periodic Tests will help student prepare for the Annual Board Examination and help teachers to keep a track of the students’ learning throughout the year.

    Speaking and listening skills in Language Subjects

    • These are the subject specific activities which will help in better understanding of the subject and skill development.
    • According to which the CBSE Class 9 report card will have scores of a single yearly term comprising a periodic test, portfolio, multiple assessment, subject enrichment and annual examination marks. The co-scholastic grading will be on a five-point grading scale.
